"Bring me some water, please," Mr Ram told Jim. it was nine thirty on the clock. The ten year old boy got up from his front seat, took a plastic bottle and outside. A few minutes later he entered the classroom with the container still empty.

"What's the matter, Jim?" Mr Ram asked the student .

"The tap is dry, Sir. There is no water coming ," answered the child.

"Well children, can you tell me why the is dry?" asked Mr Ram again.
Most of the pupils raised their hands, excitedly. They repeatedly shouted to attract the teacher's attention, each wanting to be the first to answer the question.

"Yes, Prem," smiled the elderly man, to one pupil in the middle of the class.

"Because of the drought,"was the reply. "I heard that on TV and how our reservoirs are getting dry. We were told that there would be severe cuts in the water supply everywhere and we would have to the precious liquid."

"But our island is surrounded by water, isn't it, children?" added Mr Ram.
"Yes", shouted many voices at the same time. "That is sea water but we need fresh water for drinking. There hasn't been much rainfall since long and we are suffering much."

"Good! Do you remember the blue booklet I gave some time back? You must read the pages again and continue to put into practice the different ways to save water", advised Mr Ram.
